ALGONQUIN AND LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Independence Day is fast approaching so it's time to find out where you can celebrate in and around Algonquin and Lake in the Hills. Area events include fireworks, festivals and other Fourth of July fun.

To help you fit it all in on your 4th of July calendar, Patch has put together a guide to what’s going on in Algonquin and Lake in the Hills and the surrounding areas.

Friday, June 28

Kick of the Fourth of July festivities early with an Independence Day festival this Friday, June 28, in Cary. The Stars N' Stripes Fest will include family-friendly activities, festive entertainment, a live DJ, bounce houses, axe throwing, 15 food trucks and a beer garden. >> More info

Saturday, June 29

The fun gets underway at Lakefront Park in Fox Lake at 9 a.m. The fest will include a car show that will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 29 and a parade at 10 a.m. There will be live entertainment from 5 to 10 p.m., food, drink and activities. Fireworks will be fired off at 9:30 p.m. at Nippersink Lake. >> More info

The Taste of Grayslake Family Picnic will be held on June 29, with fireworks at dusk. >> More info

Wonder Lake's Independence Day Celebration runs July 5 to 7 this year. There is a full day of fun planned for Saturday, July 6, with the day wrapping up with a water ski show at 4:30 p.m. and fireworks at dusk. >> More info

The fun gets underway at 6 p.m. at Picnic Grove Park in Fox River Grove. There will be music and then fireworks at dusk. >> More info
