Man Gets Prison For Selling Cocaine Near Park
Jose L. Avila pleaded guilty to selling cocaine within 500 feet of a park in Woodstock in 2019.
A man who sold cocaine within 500 feet of a park in Woodstock in 2019 has been sentenced to seven years in prison as part of a plea deal.
Jose I. Avila, 25, of the 900 block of Quill Lane in Woodstock, was charged with four counts of unlawful delivery of cocaine and three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Avila pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful delivery of 1-15 grams of cocaine, a Class 1 felony, in a plea deal reached with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors dismissed Avila’s six other charges as part of the deal.

McHenry County Judge Robert Wilbrandt approved the plea deal and sentenced Avila to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Wilbrandt also submitted a recommendation for Avila to be admitted to the Impact Incarceration Program, which allows for offenders to significantly reduce their sentence if they successfully complete the program.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office led the case investigation into Avila in 2019, court records show.
Court documents show that Avila delivered 15-100 grams of cocaine to someone at Sonatas Park in Woodstock on May 2, 2019.
He also possessed cocaine on April 10, 2019, and May 21, 2019, court documents said.
In addition to Avila’s prison sentence, he will be required to pay $4,096 in court fees and fines.
