Algonquin Man Charged In 2016 Burglary Investigation: Police
According to the Crystal Lake Police Department, a second suspect is being sought in the 2016 burglary investigation.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — An Algonquin man has been arrested as the result of a nearly three-year investigation into two reported commercial burglary incidents at Tommy's Red Hots in the 300 block of W. Virginia Street. According to Crystal Lake Police, an arrest warrant on felony charges of burglary, criminal damage to property and theft was obtained by police, leading to the arrest of 21-year-old Jermaine T. Re.
According to police, the first incident took place Tuesday morning, July 5, 2016, just before officers were dispatched to the business at 8:45 a.m. Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect used a rock to force his way into the business by shattering the glass entrance door, police said, adding that a box of cash was taken from the business.
At 2:12 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2016, Crystal Lake Police were again dispatched to the same business for a reported commercial burglary that had just occurred. According to police, officers arrived and learned the suspect used a blunt object to force entry into the business by again shattering the glass entrance door. However, the would-be robber fled when the alarm activated and nothing of value was taken.

According to a release, evidence technicians processed both crime scenes, leading to Crystal Lake detectives' 32-month investigation into the incidents.
Crystal Lake police said the case was reviewed with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office who approved the felony charges against Re. Re's bond was set at $50,000. Police said the case remains an active investigation, and authorities are looking for a second suspect.
