Armed Robber Pushes Clerk Into Bathroom, Steals Cigarettes: Police

The robbery happened at a gas station in the 20000 block of North Rand Road in Deer Park early Monday.

DEER PARK, IL — Police in Lake County are looking for a robber accused of holding up a gas station in Deer Park early Monday.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office was called to the gas station in the 20000 block of North Rand Road in Deer Park at about 4:45 a.m. after a clerk called 911 to report he'd just been robbed, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The clerk told police the robber was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, mask and gloves when he entered the gas station with a pistol in hand, according to police. He pushed the clerk into the bathroom and stole cigarettes before fleeing on foot eastbound from the gas station.

He has not been located, police said Monday.

The clerk was not injured but was taken to an area hospital after becoming light-headed from the incident.
