Attack 'Permanently Disfigures' Young Man: Police
An 18-year-old Volo woman faces charges after using a bladed object to slash a male several times across the face in Wauconda, police said.

WAUCONDA, IL — An 18-year-old woman faces charges in Lake County for accusations she slashed a male acquaintance across the face with a "bladed object," authorities said.
Police in Wauconda responded to a delayed battery report at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Grand Boulevard in Wauconda, according to a news release from the Wauconda Police Department.
Witnesses to the attack told police an 18-year-old woman, who has been identified as Bailee R. Parks, of the 1100 block of Adagio in Volo, used a bladed object to slash an 18-year-old man across the face several times, Wauconda Police Department Sgt. Christopher Gallivan told Patch.

The man left the home and went to MercyHealth Hospital in Crystal Lake, where he was treated for significant facial lacerations, authorities said. The individual was slashed on the right side of the face — nearly striking an artery — and he needed 22 stitches.
The teen has a large slash to the right side of his face, Gallivan said.

"This senseless act of violence caused permanent disfigurement to a young individual, and nearly cost him his life," said David Wermes, chief of police for the Wauconda Police Department.
Parks was found at her home and taken into custody. Wauconda police have had no former contact with her, Gallivan said.
Authorities also seized "items of evidentiary value," according to the news release.
Parks has been charged with aggravated battery - great bodily harm and aggravated battery - deadly weapon.
She was transported to the Lake County Jail, where she remains in custody. She is expected to appear for a detention hearing today, Gallivan said.
