How Low Did Temps Go In McHenry County?

But the cold isn't here to say, according to meteorologists. Above-normal temperatures are in the forecast next week.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — It's been a chilly start to the week and the below freezing temperatures are in the forecast for the next couple nights for much of the Chicago area.

The frigid cold hit many area residents hard as they grabbed their winter coats before heading to work and school so far this week. Understandably so since Tuesday morning marked the coldest morning in Chicago in more than six months—both O'Hare International Airport and Midway Airport recorded a low of 32 degrees, Chicago-area meteorologist Tom Skilling reported on his Facebook page Tuesday.

McHenry County saw some of the coldest temps in the Chicago area on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, McHenry saw temps as low as 26 and Marengo recorded a low of 27 degrees, according to WGNTV. Skilling noted that Lake in the Hills recorded a low temp of 29 degrees early Tuesday.

Daytime temps will be in the 40s through Thursday in Crystal Lake and low temps could hit 23 degrees in Crystal Lake Tuesday night and 26 on Wednesday night before tipping into the lower 30s for Thursday and Friday.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 43. West northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 23. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 42. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. Calm wind.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. Light west southwest wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 30.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 50.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 31.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 52.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 35.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 39.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58.
