Betty J. Zack, age 90, of Cary

Betty J. Zack, age 90, of Cary, passed away July 12, 2013, at Alden Estates of Barrington after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

She was born On December 3, 1922, in River Grove.  She married Edward Zack on Nov. 1, 1941 in Elmwood Park, Il.  He preceded her in death on September 2, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a sister Mildred.

She is survived by four children, Larry (Jude) Zack, Diane (Jeff) Moritz, Nancy Lemke, and Robert Zack; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; on June 27th her first great great grandchild; and her sisters, Harriet (John) Martin and Eleanor Huetson.

In her younger years Betty was a Cub Scout Den Mother and belonged to the Frank H. Nagel Auxillary in Fox River Grove. She was an avid knitter and baker and enjoyed doing things with her children and grandchildren.  

She also liked to write poetry and had some of her pieces published in local papers as well as the National Poet Society. Her biggest thrill was being an “All Star Extra" in the Bill Murray movie “Ground Hog Day” with her sister Harriet.  She will be missed by many.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 16, 2013, from 4 until 9 p.m. at the Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Rd., Cary. Funeral service Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. 

Burial Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Family Home Health Services Hospice, 2171 Executive Dr. Suite 450, Addison, Ill., 60101, or the National Parkinson Foundation.
