Bicyclist Critically Injured After Being Hit By SUV Near Cary
The collision happened in the 6500 block of Silver Lake Road in unincorporated McHenry County on Tuesday evening.

CARY, IL — A man was critically injured when he was hit by a car while riding his bike in McHenry County Tuesday evening.
The Cary Fire Protection District was called to the collision in the 6500 block of Silver Lake Road in unincorporated McHenry County at about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday and found the bicyclist lying in the roadway, according to a news release from the fire protection district.
The man sustained critical injuries and a medical helicopter was called to the scene to transport the man to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The driver of the sedan was not injured in the crash, according to the fire protection district.
Silver Lake Road was closed in both directions for the duration of the incident to allow emergency personnel to work safely and to accommodate the police investigation.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
