Blaze Causes $450,000 In Damage To McHenry County Barn

The fire broke out early Friday on Durkee Road in rural Alden Township.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A blaze caused $450,000 in damage to barn in McHenry County after the fire broke out early Friday.

The Hebron Alden Greenwood Fire Protection District responded to the fire in the 14100 block of Durkee Road in rural Alden Township at about 4:45 a.m. and found a heavy fire coming from the roof of the building and a 10,000 gallon propane tank nearby, according to a news release.

The fire was brought under control by 6 a.m. and continued to the large barn. There was no damage to the propane tank.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental but remains under investigation by the Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District and the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
