Cary Family Displaced After Candle Causes House Fire: Report
Firefighters said a bedroom door had been left open, causing the fire to spread into the hallway, according to The Daily Herald.
CARY, IL — A fire at Cary home Saturday evening has left a family without a home. The Daily Herald said the family of four, which included two children, received help from the American Red Cross after a burning candle caused an accidental fire in their home in the 0-100 block of Margaret Terrace just after 5 p.m. Saturday. According to the news report, the Cary Fire Protection District was called to the scene and upon arrival found smoke emerging from the front of the house and flames in an upstairs bedroom.
The family had already left the home, and firefighters said a bedroom door had been left open, causing the fire to spread into the hallway. In addition, a house door was also left open, allowing oxygen to get inside and feed the flames, according to The Daily Herald. Firefighters were quickly able to get the fire under control by using a hose line, the news report said.
Fire and smoke caused damage throughout the home, however no damage estimate was available following the fire, according to The Daily Herald.
