Cause Of Death Released For Man Hit In McHenry Home Depot Lot
The Lake County Coroner's Office and the Northeastern McHenry County Major Crash Assistance Team continue to investigate Sunday's incident.

MCHENRY, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office confirmed the results of an autopsy performed on a 71-year-old Johnsburg man involved in a fatal collision with a vehicle Sunday in a McHenry Home Depot parking lot. The coroner's office was notified at 1:21 a.m. Monday of a death at Advocate Condell Medical Center, where victim William Dammeyer was brought via Flight for Life following the incident.
“On April 1, 2019, at 1:11 p.m., an autopsy was performed on the victim, 71-year-old William Dammeyer, of Johnsburg," Dr. Howard Cooper, Lake County Coroner, said in a release sent to Patch. "The preliminary autopsy results indicate he died of multiple injuries due to a pedestrian vs. motor vehicle collision."

Cooper said the coroner's office has been in contact with Dammeyer's family, and their deepest condolences go out to them during this difficult time.
"The investigation into the incident continues by our office and the Northeastern McHenry County Major Crash Assistance Team," Cooper added. "Toxicology is pending."

The McHenry County Police Department said the man was hit by a pickup truck Sunday afternoon outside the Home Depot store in the 2400 block of N. Richmond Road, where officers responded to at 12:41 p.m. for a reported crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. According to police, Dammeyer was struck by a 2008 GMC Sierra HD pickup truck being driven near the store's entrance.
According to police, the driver of the truck, 19-year-old Christian J. Zientko, of McHenry, was cited for disobeying a stop sign.
