STRUCTURE FIRE – 600 Tracy Trail

Crystal Lake, IL – The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded to an activated fire alarm at 600 Tracy Trail, the Country Inn and Suites Hotel, at 3:57 a.m. The hotel manager reported smelling smoke and called 911. Crystal Lake Police officers arrived first and reported an activation of the building’s fire sprinkler system and that the fire was out. Crystal Lake Police also advised that they were removing an unconscious subject from the room where the fire originated. The subject was transported to an area hospital for evaluation of injuries related to smoke inhalation. Two police officers sustained smoke inhalation while in the process of rescuing the subject and were treated and released at the scene.

The building’s sprinkler and fire alarm systems had activated which contributed to saving the life of the room’s occupant. The origin of the fire appears to be a mattress fire. It is unknown how the fire started. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Crystal Lake Fire Rescue fire investigators.

Damage to the room and contents is estimated at $25,000. There were no injuries to any firefighters or other occupants and staff at the hotel. The hotel remains open while repairs are being made.
