Coroner IDs Crystal Lake Motorcyclist, 44, Killed In Head-On Crash
The motorcyclist has been identified as Benjamin Olson. Olson died in the crash on Route 47 at Thayer Road in Hebron last week.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Coroner's Office has identified the 44-year-old Crystal Lake man killed in a motorcycle collision last week.
The collision happened at about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday when a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle, which was headed south on Route 47 at Thayer Road in Hebron, collided head-on with a northbound 2016 Ford Explorer, according to police.
The motorcycle crossed the centerline before hitting the Ford Explorer before also colliding with a trailer pulled by a 2018 Chevrolet pickup truck.

The motorcyclist, who has been identified as Benjamin Olson, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. Preliminary results from an autopsy show blunt force injuries as the cause of death.
Authorities believe alcohol was a factor in the collision, police said. In addition, the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Toxicology results for Olson are currently pending, according to the coroner's office.
