Coroner IDs Elderly Woman Hit, Killed By Truck

The collision happened Wednesday morning in McHenry.

MCHENRY, IL — An elderly woman who was killed after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday morning in McHenry has been identified as Patricia Barnes, 73, of McHenry.

Barnes was hit by a 2012 Red GMC Sierra at about 6:40 a.m. at the intersection of Elm Street and Oak Drive, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department. She was taken to Northwestern Hospital in McHenry where she was pronounced dead.

Results from an autopsy show Barnes died from blunt force injuries, and toxicology is pending, according to a news release from the McHenry County Coroner's Office.

The driver of the GMC, a 37-year-old man, was not injured in the collision.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the criminal investigation division of the McHenry Police Department at 815-363-2599.
