Coroner IDs Man, 19, Who Drowned In Lake Near Cary
The McHenry County Coroner's Office has identified the man as Thane Kilbourn, 19, of Glendale, Wisconsin.
OAKWOOD HILLS, IL — A 19-year-old man who drowned in Silver Lake over the weekend has been identified as Thane Kilbourn of Glendale, Wisconsin, authorities said.
An autopsy will be performed on Kilbourn on Tuesday, according to a news release from the McHenry County Coroner's Office. Kilbourn was kayaking on Silver Lake when he fell out of his kayak.
Authorities say he was in a boat with a 20-year-old Schaumburg man when he went under, according to a news realize from the Cary Fire Protection District. The boat was about halfway across Silver Lake when it tipped over.

The 20-year-old man was able to swim to shore.
Rescue crews responded to the scene and located the teen 60 feet from shore and in about 12 feet of water, according to authorities. The body was recovered, and the teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

The older man was taken to the hospital for an evaluation, police said.
This incident remains under investigation by the Oakwood Hills Police Department.
