Coroner IDs Man, 33, Who Crashed Jet Ski On Fox River

Authorities believe the 33-year-old McHenry man ran his jet ski into a pillar at Burton's Bridge.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 33-year-old McHenry man died after authorities believe he ran a jet ski into one of the pillars at Burtons Bridge along the Fox River in McHenry County last weekend.

On Thursday, the McHenry County Coroner's Office identified the man as Jonathan Warner. Warner died from blunt force injuries to the head, according to preliminary findings from an autopsy.

Rescue crews were called to the Fox River near Route 176 at about 2 p.m. Sunday where they found a jet ski overturned in the river.

Crews searched the river for about an hour before finding Warner in the water, according to authorities. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second jet ski driver, who was traveling tandem with the first jet ski, declined any medical attention at the scene.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
