Coroner IDs Man Killed After Train Hits Car In Ingleside

The man killed in the collision has been identified as Randy Koppen, 70, of McHenry.

INGLESIDE, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 70-year-old McHenry man killed when his car was hit by a Metra train in Ingleside Monday morning, authorities said.

The collision happened in the area of Larkin Lane and Wilson Road at about 7:35 a.m., according to a news release from the Lake County Coroner's Office. The man killed in the collision has been identified as Randy Koppen.

Preliminary results from an autopsy show Koppen died from blunt force injuries as a result of a crash, according to the coroner's office.

The train hit Koppen's vehicle, which was found by emergency crews off the roadway with heavy damage, authorities said. Koppen was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Metra Police Department.
