LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 51-year-old Gurnee man who was thrown from a boat Monday evening as Larry Suchowski.

Preliminary results from an autopsy show Suchowski died from drowning as a result of the incident, according to the coroner's office news release.

Suchowski's body was recovered at about 4 p.m. Tuesday after emergency crews searched for a day for the boater, said Christopher Covelli, deputy chief for the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Search and rescue teams initially responded to Fox Lake at about 5:30 p.m. Monday for a report of two men who went overboard after their boat took a turn at "too fast of a speed," Covelli told Patch. The incident happened near Captain's Quarters, 38283 N. Bolton Place in Antioch.

Neither of the men had life jackets on at the time, Covelli said.

One of the men was rescued by a passing boat, and the other man went underwater and did not resurface, according to police.
The man who was rescued was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained while trying to get back onto his boat, which was traveling in circles in the water, Covelli said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Police Department, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
