Pedestrian ID'd In Fatal SUV Crash On Route 31

The northbound lanes of Illinois Route 31 from Three Oaks Road to Crystal Lake Road were closed for four hours after the fatal crash.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A Crystal Lake Man, identified as Alexander Felker, 31, died Wednesday morning after he was hit by an SUV while walking in unincorporated Crystal Lake, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's office deputies and Crystal Lake Police and Fire Rescue crews were called at 5:55 a.m. to the crash site in the northbound lanes of Illinois Route 31, near Daniel Drive, according to the release.

Early investigation shows that a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse driven by a 40-year-old Cary man was heading northbound on Illinois Route 31, and for unknown reasons, Felker was walking in the road when he was hit by the SUV, according to the sheriff's office.

Felker was pronounced dead on site, according to the release. The northbound lanes of Illinois Route 31 from Three Oaks Road to Crystal Lake Road were closed for four hours after the crash.
