Crystal Lake Aims To Curb Drop Off Of Migrant Workers
City officials are looking into the issue after several migrant workers were dropped off at Metra stations, thinking they were in Chicago.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Crystal Lake officials is looking into ways to discourage the drop-off of migrant workers in the city.
Reports of migrant workers being dropped off by bus at Metra stations in the suburbs, including one incident where the workers were told they were in Chicago and were dropped off in Fox River Grove, have surfaced in recent weeks.
Crystal Lake is pursuing options to discourage bus operators from unsafely dropping off migrant workers, including taking steps to prevent the arrival of buses without prior notice, according to a news release from the city of Crystal Lake.

The city plans to coordinate with the McHenry County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) to help facilitate asylum seeker transit to locations where appropriate resources are available, according to the news release.
Similar to other suburban communities, the city is pursuing options to discourage bus operators from unsafely dropping off asylum seekers in Crystal Lake. This would include preventing the arrival of buses without prior notice, according to the news release.

Maintaining the quality of life for all residents, businesses and visitors, along with having compassion for others, is a important to city officials in Crystal Lake.
"The city will continue to promote these values as it navigates this on-going situation," city officials said in a statement.
Residents are asked to call the Crystal Lake police department or the fire rescue department by dialing 9-1-1 if you encounter any security concerns related to the issue surrounding migrant workers.
