Crystal Lake Brewing Wins At World Beer Cup
Crystal Lake Brewing was awarded a bronze medal for its "Frozen Over" beer, a brown porter.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Several Chicago area brewers took home awards at the World Beer Cup this past spring, including Crystal Lake Brewing.
Widely regarded as the “Olympics of Beer,” the World Beer Cup is the largest beer competition in the world.
This year, Crystal Lake Brewing was awarded a bronze medal for its "Frozen Over," a brown porter. There were more than 100 different categories brewer could submit their chosen brew in for the 2024 competition, and in the brown porter category, there were 51 total entries.

Other Chicago area breweries to take home awards this year include:
- Sundial Brewing and Blending in Barrington received a silver in the session beer or Belgian-style table beer for its "Table Courage"
- Tonality Brewing Co. in Mundelein received a silver in the Belgian-style dubbel category for its "Dubbel Crit"
- Double Clutch Brewing Company in Evanston received a bronze in the German-style alter for its "Altbier"
