CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Police in Crystal Lake will be stepping up enforcement efforts in April.
The Crystal Lake Police Department will be out in full force in April as part of Distracted Driving Awareness Month and will be pulling over anyone who is observed texting and driving, according to a news release from the police department.
The Crystal Lake Police Department is among 200 local law enforcement agencies across the state to offer increased traffic safety enforcement zones in April.

Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of motor vehicle crashes on roadways. During
Distracted Driving Awareness Month, law enforcement will boost enforcement efforts, stopping
anyone who is observed texting and driving, authorities said.
The Illinois distracted driving campaign is funded with federal traffic safety funds administered
by Illinois Department of Transportation.
