Crystal Lake's Joe Affrunti Making Mark on Golf Tour

Crystal Lake native Joe Affrunti is making his mark on the professional golf tours.

Affrunti, returning from an injury, played his way into a four-man playoff on Monday on the Web.com Tour. The United Leasing Championship was held at Victoria National Golf Club in Newburg, Ind., the Northwest Herald reports. 

While the Crystal Lake Central High School graduate didn't win the championship, placing among the top four moved him up 99 spots on the tour rankings, leaving him in 52nd place, the Northwest Herald reports. 

Affrunti recently earned his PGA tour card, and is competing on both the PGA and  Web.com tours.
