Dad Accused Of Leaving Baby At Home To Rob Bank Is Now Free From Jail
Pre-trial release has been granted for Peter A. Savo, 36, of McHenry.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A McHenry father accused of leaving his 9-month-old son at home so he could rob a bank this past week has been granted pre-trial release, officials said.
McHenry County Judge Michael Chmiel granted pre-trial release to Peter A. Savo, 36, during a hearing Tuesday in McHenry County Circuit Court. As part of the conditions of his release from jail Savo is not allowed to leave the state or possess a firearm or dangerous weapon, according to court documents provided to Patch.
He also cannot visit any Huntington Bank branches in Illinois, according to conditions of his pre-trial release.

He will be placed under the direct supervision of the McHenry County Probation and Court Services department and must comply rules set up by the probation and court Services department and has been ordered to allow any of their agents into his home at any time for "purposes of verifying the defendant’s compliance with the conditions of his/her release," according to court documents.
Savo is accused of entering a Huntington Bank at 5555 Bull Valley Road in McHenry at about 10:45 a.m. on Monday and indicating to a cash teller at the bank that he had a gun, according to a complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court.

He stole $4,895 from the bank and fled the scene, according to the complaint.
Savo was arrested a short time later.
While investigating the bank robbery, authorities learned Savo had left his 9-month-old son home alone while he held up Huntington Bank, police said.
Officers responded to Sova’s home to check on the baby and took him into protective custody, authorities said. Police notified the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, and the child was later released to the custody of his mother.
Savo is next expected in court on May 21. He faces charges of child abandonment, aggravated robbery - indicate dangerous weapon and theft-unauthorized control.
