Discussion will continue this week regarding disbanding the police offerings through the park district.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — The Crystal Lake Park District park board is continuing discussions this week on possibility discontinuing operations of its police department.
Reasons for disbanding the park district police department include saving resources and money, Shaw Local News Network is reporting. A lot of the park police department's responsibilities overlap with the city's police duties.
Park district staff has expressed concerns over services that will be discontinued, including services to find lost children in parks and stopping vandalism and that there would be delayed responses and a decrease in safety at the parks, according to the article.
