Dog Rescued From House Fire In McHenry

The Tuesday afternoon fire caused damage to a home in the 3400 block of North Cove Court in Johnsburg, fire officials said.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Firefighters rescued a dog from a house fire this past week in McHenry County.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was called to the blaze in the 3400 block of North Cove Court in Johnsburg at about noon on Tuesday, according to a news release from the fire protection district.

When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found a fire on the rear deck. Firefighters helped to get a dog, which was not injured, out of the house safely, according to the news release.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within ten minutes. The blaze caused damage to a rear deck and exterior siding and caused water and smoke damage to the interior of the home, according to the news release.

Despite the damage, the home is still habitable, said Ryan Mastandrea, battalion chief with the McHenry Township Fire Protection District.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
