CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — As the upcoming primary election draws closer, McHenry County residents now have 10 more early voting locations to choose from to cast their ballot, county officials announced on Monday.

The primary election will be held on June 28 and county residents can vote at a total of 11 different sites around the county, regardless of where they live. Local residents are able to find a list of locations, voting hours, and dates to choose from at the McHenry County Clerk’s website.

Early voting in the county began on May 19 and will continue through June 27, a day before the primary election is held around Illinois.

Voters who plan to do so on the actual day of the election must vote at their designated polling place, which is assigned by the county clerk’s office. Voters are also able to cast their ballot at the clerk’s office, which has been deemed a universal voting location by county officials.

Because a number of precinct boundaries and polling places have changed since the last election, voters are strongly encouraged to visit the County Clerk’s website to double-check their voting location, officials said in a news release. Residents are able to locate their respective polling place, as well as generate a sample ballot for your races and candidates, by clicking here.

Voters also still have time to vote by mail to apply for a ballot, but the County Clerk’s Office must receive it no later than June 23, officials said. Residents may obtain an application for a vote-by-mail ballot by visiting the County Clerk’s office or can click here to download and print one.

Voters should allow seven days for delivery, officials said in the news release. Vote-by-mail ballots can be mailed in, delivered in person, or dropped off at any time at the secure ballot drop box in front of the County Administration Building; ballots must be postmarked no later than June 28 to be counted.

If residents are not registered to vote or have changed their address since the last election, you can register in person at the County Clerk’s office or at the polls, voters can register online through the State Board of Elections by clicking here, or you can click here to download a form to register by mail.
