Expect Delays On Routes 14 And 31 For Deputy's Funeral Procession
The Crystal Lake Police Department reports several traffic delays expected involving Route 14 and Route 31.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — The Crystal Lake Police Department said the following traffic delays are expected to take place March 13, as the McHenry County Sheriff's Department announced part of the funeral procession for fallen Deputy Jacob Keltner will travel through Crystal Lake Wednesday.
The route for the procession through Crystal Lake is:
- East on Route 14 from the City of Woodstock
- South on Route 31 from Route 14
- West on Rakow Road from Route 31
- Continue onto Randall Road from Rakow Road
- Randall Road into Lake in the Hills
According to a news release, members of the Crystal Lake Police Department will greatly limit access along the route during the procession, specifically to those planning on traveling in or through several parts of Crystal Lake on March 13, between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Police said attempts to cross Route 14 or travel east on Route 14, travel south on Route 31 from Route 14, cross Rakow Road, or travel west on Rakow Road from Route 31 through Algonquin Road should be avoided.

Keltner's funeral will start at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Woodstock High School, 3000 Raffel Road in Woodstock. Parking at the high school will be for first responders only. The doors will open at 8 a.m. with law enforcement and other first responders receiving priority seating. The official procession will immediately follow the funeral.
The sheriff's office encourages the public to show their support and honor Deputy Keltner by lining the procession route on Wednesday. The public is also encouraged to leave notes or flowers on the squad dedicated to Keltner located on the east side of the building.

The procession route will be for law enforcement and emergency vehicles only and is as follows:
- Leave Woodstock High School north (right) on Raffel Road
- Turn west (left) on Charles Road
- Turn south (left) on Route 47
- Turn southeast (left) on Route 14
- Turn south (right) on Route 31
- Turn west (right) on James R. Rakow Road
- James R. Rakow Road turns into Randall Road
- Turn west (right) on Algonquin Road
- Turn south (left) on Ruth Road
- Turn south (left) on Dundee Road
- End at DeFiore Funeral Home
These restrictions will be put into place in order to facilitate the procession’s travel through our City and provide for the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and those bystanders wishing to pay their respects, police said.

The procession is not expected to last two hours and the above time frame is approximate, according to a news release. However, the exact time of when the procession will enter into Crystal Lake remains flexible depending on road and weather conditions, and logistics.
"The City of Crystal Lake would like to thank the public for its support, patience, and understanding as we honor Deputy Keltner," the department said in a release.
