Fast-Moving Storm Levels Trees, Power Lines In McHenry County

The storm caused isolated damage, and the impact from the storm was not widespread, according to authorities.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Several towns in western McHenry County are cleaning up after a fast-moving storm hit early Tuesday afternoon, leaving downed trees and power lines.

Here is a look at some of the storm-related reports:

  • The Harvard Fire Protection District was called to a home in the 600 block of Dewey Street for a report for large tree that fell on a home at about 1:30 p.m., bringing down power lines onto the roadway. There were people at the home at the time but no one was injured in the incident. The scene was cleared a short time later.
  • At about 1:30 p.m., the Marengo Fire & Rescue districts was called to the 22500 block of Harmony Road for a downed power line that caught on fire, leading to a road closure in both directions for more than 90 minutes.
  • The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District also responded to the area of Jackson and Douglas Streets for a tree that fell onto utility lines.

The storm caused isolated damage, and the impact from the storm was not widespread, according to authorities.

Several additional weather-related calls were dispatched throughout the afternoon, though most involved minor issues and did not require significant help from the fire department.
