Fentanyl Caused Death Of McHenry County Boy, 14: Coroner

The 14-year-old Richmond boy has been identified as Trent Ulrich.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A teen who was found unresponsive near Richmond in January and later died at the hospital has been identified.

The McHEnry County Coroner's Office said Monday that it appears that Trent Ulrich, 14, of Richmond, died of a drug overdose. The cause of death was determined as adverse effects of fentanyl and Xylazine, which is a non-opioid sedative or tranquilizer, according to the coroner's office.

Ulrich was pronounced dead at around noon on Jan. 3.
