CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A fire broke out at a home in the 2800 block of Skyline Drive Tuesday morning, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department said in a release. According to the department, the homeowner called to report the fire at 6:30 a.m., and said the house was struck by lightning and there was fire coming from a damaged natural gas line in the second-floor fireplace. Department crews responded to the report, and two people that were home at the time were able to get out of the home as crews arrived, according to the release.
