Fire At Fox Lake Home Spread Inside Walls, Into Attic: Officials

According to fire personnel, a home is uninhabitable after the Monday night fire blazed through the house on the 100 block of Forest Avenue.

FOX LAKE, IL — A Monday night fire at a Fox Lake home left the residence uninhabitable, officials from the Fox Lake Fire Protection District told Patch.

The fire broke out at around 9:50 p.m. in the 100 block of Forest Avenue. Firefighters said the owner of the home first reported the blaze.

When fire personnel arrived at the scene, they first saw only light smoke but later discovered the fire had spread from the chimney into the walls and attic of the two-story home. After about an hour, officials had the blaze under control, a spokesman for the department said.

Firefighters were on the scene for a total of about three hours. Since crews had to tear out some of the ceiling to reach the fire inside the attic, there was significant damage caused to the home but officials did not have a cost estimate as of Tuesday.

No injuries were reported from the incident.
