Fire Heavily Damages Cary-Area Home, Neighbor Rescues 2 Dogs: FD

Officials do not believe the cause of the fire in unincorporated Cary to be suspicious and the exact damage total has not been determined.

CARY, IL — A home located in unincorporated Cary was severely damaged by fire on Monday night after the one-story house caught fire while the owners were away, fire officials said.

The fire was reported just before 7:15 p.m. in the 6500 block of Pheasant Trail and firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke pouring from the back of the home, officials said in a news release. Firefighters then found the back of the home to be on fire, but the fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.

Neighbors told firefighters that the owners were not home at the time but that a neighbor had gone into the home to rescue two dogs. The neighbor was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, officials said but refused to be taken to the hospital for further treatment. No firefighters were injured.

Fire officials have not determined the cause of the fire but do not believe it to be suspicious, officials said.
