Food Truck Run By Crystal Lake Veteran Makes It To Final Four Of WGN Burger Competition

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — There is a little time left for residents to vote for a food truck run by a local man in WGN's Best Burgers Tournament.

Smash'D is run by Kevin Byrnes, a Crystal Lake veteran. He first stated serving his burgers under a tent, and started his food truck two years ago, according to the Northwest Herald.

Smash'D has made it to the final four of WGN's competition. Online voting will continue through 6 a.m. Monday. You can vote here.

"We made it. We made it to the final four of WGN's best burger for Chicago and we did it because of you," Smash'D owner, Kevin, said in a video posted on Facebook in recent days. "Thank you, thank you very much."

Other burgers joints in the Final Four include: Nick's Tavern, 221 Main Street in Lemont; Kuma's Corner, which has locations at 1900 Belmont Avenue in Chicago, and 1570 E. Golf Road in Schaumburg; and Au Chaval, at 800 W. Randolph Street in Chicago.
