Heroin Possession Leads To 5-Year Sentence For McHenry Man

Authorities found the McHenry man had heroin in his possession during a July 2018 traffic stop, and he planned to sell it.

MCHENRY, IL — A McHenry man has been sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to felony (heroin) possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, Patrick Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announced Tuesday, according to the McHenry County State's Attorney's office. Robert Walrod, 41, was sentenced by McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge for the felony offense stemming from a July 2018 incident, according to a news release from the state's attorney's office.

On July 31, 2018, Walrod was stopped on July 31, 2018 while traveling from Chicago to McHenry, when authorities found heroin in his possession, according to the news release. The state's attorney's office added that Walrod intended to sell the heroin in McHenry.

This case was investigated by members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s department, and was prosecuted by Brian Miller of the McHenry County State's Attorney's office.
