'Highly Intoxicated' Man Charged After Toddler Found In Street: Police
The 19-month-old child was left alone for about 10 minutes, according to court documents. Michael Weger, Crystal Lake, now faces charges.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A 45-year-old Crystal Lake man faces charges for allegations he left his 19-month-old child alone for about 10 minutes while he was "highly intoxicated" Friday evening.
Michael Weger, of the 300 block of South McHenry Avenue, was on pre-trial release on a DUI charge when authorities found his toddler wandering alone in a roadway at about 7 p.m., according to a Shaw Local News Network article. During the incident, Weger is also accused of approaching an officer, pulling his right arm back and clenching his fist.
Weger has been charged with aggravated assault on an officer, firefighter, EMS or EMT, a Class 4 felony, and endangering the life or health of a child.

Weger appeared in court Saturday morning and was released with conditions in place that require him not to consume alcohol or going to places where alcohol is primarily sold or consumed, according to the article. He will return to court Monday for a hearing on a petition filed to revoke his pre-trial release on a January DUI charge.
