Home Destroyed By Massive Blaze Near Crystal Lake
A man was injured in the fire and two cats are missing from the home in the 1800 block of Louise Street.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A man was injured and two cats are missing following a massive house fire near Crystal Lake early Thursday.
The Nunda Rural Fire Protection District was called to the home in the 1800 block of Louise Street for the blaze at about 4 a.m. Thursday, according to a post on the fire protection district's Facebook page.
When they arrived, they found a fire showing in the front of the two-story home, and within minutes, the residence was fully engulfed in flames, according to the news release. There was one person inside the home — a man — who was able to escape before fire crews arrived.

The man was taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry for treatment of minor injuries, according to the news release.
The home and contents of the home are considered a total loss, and two cats are currently missing from the residence, fire officials said. Damage estimates are currently not available.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
