2 McHenry Co. School Districts Announce Closures Wednesday
The ice storm warning will be in effect from 6 a.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. Thursday.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — An ice storm warning has been issued for McHenry County, which will take effect this morning and continue through Thursday morning.
Total ice and sleet accumulations of up to a half-inch are expected, according to the National Weather Service. The ice storm warning will take effect at 6 a.m. Wednesday and will continue through 6 a.m. Thursday for McHenry, Boone and Winnebago counties.
Power outages and tree damage are likely, and hazardous and slick road conditions may effect today's morning commute and will likely impact tonight's evening commute, according to weather officials.

Travel is strongly discouraged during the ice storm and those who must travel are urged to bring an extra flashlight and food and water in case of an emergency.
As of 6:30 a.m., two McHenry County schools have announced closures. District 12 in Johnsburg has closed its schools Wednesday and District 36 in Wonder Lake will also close. To check for updated closings, visit the emergencyclosingcenter.com.
