Inmate Seriously Injured After Falling Down Stairs At Jail

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — An inmate was seriously injured when he fell down a flight of stairs at the McHenry County Jail early Thursday, authorities said.

The incident happened at about 6:30 a.m. at the McHenry County Correctional Facility. The inmate fell down the flight of stairs inside the jail and there were no other individuals around the inmate when this occurred.

The inmate was conscious and breathing when he was transported to Northwestern Hospital in Woodstock. He was later taken by helicopter to a second hospital.
