Johnsburg Schools Cancel Classes Due To Hostage Situation: Police
A man reportedly shooting a gun inside of home led to a standoff in the 3600 block of Filmore Road in Johnsburg.
JOHNSBURG, IL — Students in Johnsburg are off school today following a hostage situation in town.
The incident was first reported at about 11:08 p.m. Tuesday when police were called to a home in the 3600 block of Filmore Road in Johnsburg for a report of a man shooting a gun inside the residence, police said. McHenry County Sheriff's Office deputies and the SWAT team were called to the scene and remained at the home as of Wednesday morning.
Authorities believe the shooting occurred as a result of a mental health incident, according to a news release from Johnsburg Police Department.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area of Route 31 and Johnsburg Road until further notice, and schools in Johnsburg were called off for the day due to the standoff.
