Kitchen Fire Leaves Cary Family Home Uninhabitable

Fire officials reported the fire an accident due to cooking.

CARY, IL — The Cary Fire Protection District and assisting agencies were dispatched to the 0-100 block of Fairfield Lane in the Village of Cary Sunday for a reported house fire. The Cary Fire Protection District said their first unit arrived at the scene at 6:36 p.m. and found smoke showing from a tri-level ranch house with the occupants outside, who advised fire crews the fire was in the upstairs kitchen and that everyone was out of the house.

CFPD said their firefighters entered with a hose and put of the flames within 15 minutes of getting to the scene.

According to CFPD, homeowner Erica Goldsberry said she was cooking on the stove, when a grease fire broke out and quickly spread from the stove to the wall and cabinets, while her husband and two children were also inside the home when the fire broke out.
