Lewd Act Near School Nets Arrest For Man, 31: Police

The man was taken into custody near Highland Middle School last week, police said.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A 31-year-old man faces charges for allegations he performed a lewd act while in his vehicle near a Libertyville school, authorities said.

Victor A. Rodriguez, 31, was taken into custody on Aug. 12 after the Libertyville Police Department was called to the 300 block of West Rockland Road for a report of a suspicious person inside a car at about 8:20 a.m., according to a news release from police. When they arrived, they found Rodriguez in his car near Highland Middle School, which was not in session at the time.

Rodriguez was arrested and has been charged with indecent exposure, sexual conduct within 500 feet of a secondary school and indecent exposure, lewd exposure of the body with intent to arouse within 500 feet of a secondary school.

Following the incident, police are urging residents to remain vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious persons, vehicles, or activities to the police.

"Your timely reports help ensure the safety and security of our community," police said.
