License Revoked For Doctor Convicted Of Battery Of Patient

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The office of a Crystal Lake doctor — whose medical license was revoked after he was convicted on a battery charge — has "temporarily closed."

Hiralal Maheshwari, who practiced at Midwest Endocrinology on Terra Cotta Road, entered into a negotiated plea of guilty to battery with physical contact, a Class A misdeameanor, in October and additional felony counts filed against Maheshwari, including a criminal sexual abuse charge, were dismissed.

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation "permanently revoked" Maheshwari's license on Nov. 30 "due to conviction of criminal battery against a patient in the course of patient treatment," according to an online registry.

Court records show Maheshwari has been sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay $3,973 in fines, according to Shaw Local News Network. A 176-day jail sentenced has been stayed.

Meanwhile, it appears Maheshwari's office is no longer taking patients.

A sign on the door at the practice reads "the office is temporarily closed until further notice," and a voice recording at the office let patients know that Midwest Endocrinology would be closed "until further notice," according to Shaw Local News Network.

Allegations against Masheshwari claim he intentionally fondled a patient's breast and squeezed her buttocks in May 2021 and also placed his hand on the breast of another patient in August and November of 2023, according to the article. A third woman also came forward but those allegations were not prosecuted.
