Laureys was biking home with a friend after going fishing near Crystal Lake when he was hit from behind by the SUV, according to police and a GoFundMe set up to raise funds for Laureys' family.
The SUV then fled, police said. Over the weekend, police said the vehicle had been found, but did not release any more information.
"At this time, there are no additional suspects and no charges have been filed," police said in an update. "We appreciate the community’s assistance and cooperation in the investigation thus far. More information will be released as it becomes available."
On Monday, authorities released information regarding Kluesener's death, identifying him as the suspect in the hit-and-run.
Lance Laureys, Nick's uncle, said his nephew had been living with him for the past two year along with Nick's younger brothers, Chris, 12, and Sam, 4, according to the GoFundMe, which has brought in more than $6,000 and will be used to cover funeral and memorial expenses.
"He loved his siblings deeply and was always looking out for them. I bought a new home so everyone could have their own space, and Nick quickly became the heart of our household," Lance Laureys wrote. "Nick’s loss has left a hole in our family and our community."
Laureys was a student at Woodstock North High School.
The cause of Kluesener's death remains under investigation by the Woodstock Police Department and McHenry County Coroner's Office.
