Man, 72, Dies After Suffering Medical Episode, Crashing Car: Police

The collision happened in Lake Zurich Monday morning.

LAKE ZURICH, IL — A 72-year-old Lake Zurich man died after suffering an "incapacitating medical event" and running his car into several trees and another vehicle on Monday morning.

The collision happened at about 11:30 a.m. on Pheasant Ridge Drive and Old Mill Grove Road when a 2016 Chrysler 200 was headed east on Pheasant Ridge and went off the roadway before running into several trees, according to a news release from the Lake County Coroner's Office. The Chrysler then collided with a 2015 Hyundai.

Both the driver and passenger in the Chrysler were taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital where the driver was pronounced dead. The 72-year-old man has been identified as Paul Anderson of Lake Zurich.

Results from an autopsy show Anderson suffered an incapacitating medical event, which caused his death and lead to him crashing his car, according to a news release.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
