Man Accused Of l Hitting Woman With His Car In Front Of Bar Near Island Lake
A Woodstock man has been charged with hitting a woman with his car in front of a bar near Island Lake.

A Woodstock man has been charged with hitting a woman with his car in front of a bar near Island Lake before later being arrested for driving under the influence.
Dustin J. Hammond, 30, of Woodstock, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence, obstructing justice and theft under $500.

The incident happened on March 29 at Mavericks Brew Pub, 4500 Roberts Road in unincorporated Island Lake.
A grand jury indictment alleged that Hammond struck a woman with his vehicle in front of the bar around 8:15 p.m. that evening.

Hammond had just left the bar after consuming multiple alcoholic beverages, which he did not pay for, the indictment said.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident and Hammond had left the scene.
The Woodstock Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Hammond approximately 30 minutes later.
Hammond was driving a gray Honda when officers stopped him in the 600 block of Leah Lane near his residence.
An officer noted in their report that Hammond was driving under the influence of alcohol.
He had slurred speech, glassy eyes, motor skill issues and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, the report said.
Hammond also refused to perform field sobriety tests, the report said.
A judge signed a search warrant for a blood draw to check his blood alcohol content but Hammond refused to comply with it, a criminal complaint said.
Hammond was initially charged with a misdemeanor for hitting the woman with his car but the charges were later upgraded to a felony.
Hammond has since been released from custody after posting 10% of a $6,000 bond, court records show.
