Man Convicted Of Sexually Assaulting Young Girl Over 4 Years
A jury found Juan Ceverez guilty in the 2008 sexual assault case. He could now face between 18 and 180 years in prison.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A man who sexually assaulted a young girl over a four-year period while living in her home has been convicted in McHenry County.
Following a three-day trial and just three hours of deliberating, a McHenry County jury found Juan Ceverez of Des Moines, Iowa, guilty of a predatory sexual assault of a child.
During the trial, jurors learned about the sex assaults, which began when the victim, a girl, was 6 years old, shortly after Ceverez moved into her home in 2008. Those assaults continued over the next four years, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.

Cheverez is now set to be sentenced on April 24. He could face between 18 and 180 years in prison.
The conviction stems from an investigation that was launched on April 11, 2019, by the Crystal Lake Police Department. The delayed report was investigated and detectives identified the suspect as Ceverez.

Officers also worked with police in Polk County, Iowa, and the U.S. Marshal's Office to take Cheverez into custody in March 2022 and transported to the McHenry County Jail.
