Man Dies After Fleeing Shooting, Crashing Car: Police
The accused shooter was killed in the collision at Route 47 and Route 176 early Friday in Woodstock, authorities said.
WOODSTOCK, IL — A person accused of firing a gun inside a home in Woodstock early Friday died in a crash while fleeing the scene of the shooting, authorities said.
The Woodstock Police Department was first called to the home in the 200 block of Douglas Street at about 12:40 a.m. Friday, and as officers arrived at the scene, the shooter fled the area, according to a news release from the Woodstock Police Department.
An officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle continued south on Route 47 before crashing at the intersection of Route 47 and Route 176. Authorities were able to extricate the driver and attempted life-saving measures, but the driver did not survive the crash, police said.

A gun was recovered at the scene of the crash that matches the description of the firearm used in the Douglas Street shooting, authorities said.
