Man Found With Stab Wound Outside Gas Station: Police

The man was critically injured and taken to a Rockford hospital for further treatment, authorities said.

WOODSTOCK, IL — A man found with a stab wound outside a gas station in Woodstock was airlifted to a hospital Monday morning, authorities said.

The main is in critical condition as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, according to a news release from the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.

Emergency crews were first called to the Shell gas station at 110 N. Eastwood Drive at about 11:20 a.m. where they found the man outside the building with a "serious chest laceration," according to the news release. Authorities believe a knife was used to cause the injury, police said.

The man was first taken by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Woodstock and then airlifted to Javon Be a Hospital - Riverside in Rockford for further treatment.

The Woodstock Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
