Man Gets Prison For 3rd Battery Against Same Woman: Prosecutors

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A former Crystal Lake man has been sentenced to two years in prison for battering a 73-year-old man.

John Karavakis, 54, pleaded guilty to a domestic battery charge in May. Authorities say Karavakis pushed a 73-year-old woman to the ground while he was providing care for her and she was living with him, according to a McHenry County State's Attorney's news release.

Karavakis was serving two terms of probation on separate misdemeanor domestic battery charges for battering the same woman at the time the most recent domestic battery charge was filed in McHenry County, according to prosecutors.

On top of a two-year prison sentence, Karavakis has been ordered to comply with the criminal order of protection for at least 2 years following his 4 year mandatory supervised release period from prison.
